About the company

Our company has been present in the Hungarian market for 30 years. The path from the beginning to the current success of the company has been long and arduous. The social and economic transformation starting from the political change and continuing to this day has repeatedly forced our company to continuously renew and change its product structure, which is now the leading safe manufacturer in our country. More than 500 self-developed products are marketed under the Strauss Metal brand name.

The main activity of the company is metalworking and sheet metal processing, including the manufacture of security products.

The company’s current headquarters is located at 107/1 Mohácsi út, 7630 Pécs, in a location that is easily accessible and close to the city center. The first exit of the new M60 motorway leads traffic directly in front of our premises into the eastern part of the city. Pécs is located 200 kilometers from the capital, as the center of the South Transdanubian region, it is the fifth largest city in the country and the largest city west of the Danube, excluding Budapest. Initially, the company rented its premises from the former Gas Works, then gradually bought out the property.

Recognizing market changes in a timely manner, flexibility, innovative capability, diligence, persistent and hard work have borne fruit. Our company has grown from a small enterprise employing only a few people at the beginning to a financially strong company with a well-known and highly recognized brand name throughout Europe.

1. Product range

In the early days, unique deep-drawn products were introduced to the market in Eastern Europe, such as cash boxes, key cabinets, and mailboxes. With the continuous strengthening and expansion of the banking and financial sector, there has been a growing demand for high-security mechanical protection tools. Our product range now includes tresors—some of which are available with insurance coverage limits of up to 10 billion HUF—residential and deposit safes, bulletproof and anti-puncture counters, vault doors, and combined cash management tools. In the latter category, ergonomic and versatile usage considerations have led to the integration of electronic components and software with mechanical security tools.

This combination has led to the creation of the Super Cash Registers and the Multi-Safe. These products make cash management safer, more controllable, and simpler. The Multi-Safe is PC-controlled, allowing the use of up to 38 codes, with each drawer opening with its own time delay setting. Thanks to its silent alarm function, it alerts the central system in case of an emergency opening. Events related to drawer openings can be logged and listed. In addition to safety and functionality, design, appearance, and aesthetics have become important considerations in product development. Instead of rigid, angular, and robust forms, softer lines and stylishness have gained prominence. Indeed, our Multi-Safe product was awarded in the 2007 Design Competition.

For a company that now has approximately 500 types of its own manufactured products, the residential market is also a significant target. We do not only produce products for banks and businesses. The general public also needs reliable security devices to protect against break-ins and burglaries, safeguarding years of accumulated assets, financial resources, and important documents. The safes designed for wall and furniture installation come from the same precise and high-quality manufacturing as those for banking equipment. The products are tested, checked, and certified by MABISZ (Hungarian Insurance Association). In addition to domestic trade, we also engage in significant export activities. Our company is 100% Hungarian-owned. Our products are also 100% Hungarian-made and fully comply with European quality standards.

2. Product and Technological Development, Research and Development

The company places great emphasis on product development. In addition to tresors, the product range includes vault rooms, payment machines, and armored vehicles. The company is also involved in research and development, which has led to the creation of a lightweight composite material used in the construction of tresors, panic rooms, and money transport vehicles.

Strauss Metal also undertakes custom orders. We have developed a complete customer calling system, as well as ICT passenger information systems for bus stations in Pécs, Kaposvár, Tatabánya, Kecskemét, and Debrecen. We manufactured a giant display for Kisalföld Volán, and the National Tax and Customs Administration commissioned us to produce seal boxes. For BAT – Pécsi Dohánygyár Kft., the company crafted high-quality workshop furniture from sheet metal, with plans to further develop and expand this product line in the future.

In 2014, Strauss Metal produced fire-resistant and various bulletproof doors. We also developed several in-house products, including a 100-compartment storage cabinet, a moderately fire-resistant hospital cabinet, a tax stamp cart, a filtering table, a cigarette sorting table, a maker-cutter cabinet, and a computer cabinet.

3. Tools

With the support received, in 2014 the company commissioned a MAZAK Optiflex 3015 Fiber laser cutting machine and its peripherals, which is unique in Central Europe. For the precise shaping of curved surfaces, we use the UpDownBend RAS 78.30 type edge bending machine. Thanks to the acquisition of these two machines, which together cost over 200 million HUF, Strauss Metal has achieved a European-level quality in sheet metal technology, establishing itself as a market leader in Hungary in its sector. In the same year, several high-lift forklifts were added to the high-bay warehouse. The production capacity is supported by 110 metalworking machines, most of which represent high-performance, CAD/CAM-supported high-tech technology.
